TMP01ES Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • A thermal pad on the bottom of the package should be connected to a large copper area on the PCB to dissipate heat efficiently. The copper area should be connected to a ground plane to minimize thermal resistance.
  • The output voltage of the TMP01ES is proportional to the absolute temperature, not the supply voltage. Therefore, the output voltage should be measured with respect to the analog ground pin (Pin 3) and not the supply voltage.
  • The TMP01ES does not require calibration. It is factory-calibrated and the calibration data is stored in an on-chip EPROM. However, if high accuracy is required, a single-point calibration can be performed by measuring the output voltage at a known temperature and adjusting the offset accordingly.
  • To ensure EMC, the TMP01ES should be placed in a shielded environment, and the PCB should be designed with good electromagnetic shielding in mind. Additionally, the device should be connected to a low-impedance analog ground to minimize electromagnetic interference.
