  • TI provides a recommended PCB layout in the datasheet (Figure 23) and in the TPS51427RHBT Evaluation Module User's Guide (SLUU444). Follow these guidelines to minimize noise, ensure proper thermal performance, and optimize overall device operation.
  • Choose an output capacitor with a low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) and a high ripple current rating. A 10uF to 22uF ceramic capacitor with an X5R or X7R dielectric is recommended. Refer to the datasheet (Section 7.2.2) for more information on output capacitor selection.
  • The TPS51427RHBT has an absolute maximum input voltage rating of 6.5V. However, for normal operation, the recommended input voltage range is 3.5V to 5.5V. Exceeding the maximum input voltage can damage the device.
  • The TPS51427RHBT has a built-in OCP feature that can be enabled by connecting the OCP pin to a resistor divider network. The OCP threshold is set by the resistor values. Refer to the datasheet (Section 7.3.5) for more information on OCP implementation.
  • The thermal derating curve for the TPS51427RHBT is provided in the datasheet (Figure 14). The curve shows the maximum output current vs. junction temperature. Use this curve to determine the maximum output current for your specific application temperature range.
