Texas Instruments provides a recommended PCB layout in the datasheet (Figure 23) and in the TPS53114PWP Evaluation Module User's Guide (SLUU444). It's essential to follow these guidelines to minimize noise, ensure proper thermal performance, and optimize the device's operation.
The input capacitor values depend on the input voltage, output voltage, and desired output ripple. TI recommends using X7R or X5R ceramic capacitors with a minimum capacitance of 10uF and a voltage rating of at least 1.5 times the maximum input voltage. Refer to the datasheet (Section 8.2.2) for more information.
The maximum output current capability of the TPS53114PWP is 1.4A. However, the actual output current capability may be limited by the thermal performance of the device, PCB layout, and ambient temperature. Refer to the datasheet (Section 6.3) for thermal derating information.
The TPS53114PWP has a built-in OCP and SCP feature. To implement OCP, connect a resistor (RILIM) between the ILIM pin and GND to set the current limit threshold. For SCP, connect a resistor (RSCP) between the SCP pin and GND to set the short-circuit detection threshold. Refer to the datasheet (Section 8.3.3) for more information.
