  • Texas Instruments recommends a 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane on the bottom layer, and a split power plane on the top layer. The IC should be placed near the input capacitors, and the output diode should be placed near the output capacitors. A shielded inductor is also recommended to reduce EMI.
  • The compensation network should be designed to provide a phase margin of at least 45 degrees. A type-2 compensation network is recommended, with a zero at 1/3 of the switching frequency and a pole at 1/2 of the switching frequency.
