UCC3806N Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • TI recommends a 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane, and placing the UCC3806N close to the input capacitors and output inductors to minimize loop areas and reduce EMI. Additionally, use a shielded inductor and keep the feedback trace away from the power traces.
  • Choose an inductor with a high saturation current rating, low DC resistance, and a suitable inductance value based on the output voltage and current requirements. TI recommends using an inductor with a value between 1-10uH for most applications.
  • The UCC3806N can handle input voltages up to 18V, but TI recommends operating it within the 12V-15V range for optimal performance and reliability.
