CUI Inc recommends a 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane, and a separate layer for the input and output traces to minimize noise and EMI. Additionally, keep the input and output capacitors close to the module and use a low-ESR capacitor for the output filter.
To ensure reliable start-up and shutdown, CUI Inc recommends a soft-start circuit to limit the inrush current, and a voltage supervisor to monitor the input voltage and ensure the module is fully powered before enabling the output.
The maximum allowable capacitance for the output filter is 1000uF. Exceeding this value may cause instability or oscillation in the module.
The VFM-25C is rated for operation up to 85°C, but derating is required for temperatures above 70°C. Consult the datasheet for derating curves and ensure proper thermal management to prevent overheating.
