Allegro Microsystems' AHV85110 isolated gate driver is designed for use with GaNFETs (Gallium Nitride Field Effect Transistors) in various AC to DC and DC to DC conversion topologies, and is suitable for use in automotive, industrial, and grid infrastructure applications.

The driver operates from a 12-volt supply and features a Power-Thru isolated bias that eliminates the need for a high-side bootstrap and the external secondary-side bias, resulting in a simplified design with lower EMI and the ability to drive a floating switch anywhere in a switching power topology. This can lead to reduced component count and lower overall system cost.

The AHV85110 also features a fast 50 nanosecond propagation delay combined with high sink and source capability through separate pull-up and pull-down drive pins, which enables efficient driving of GaNFETs at frequencies up to 800 kilohertz. Additionally, it has multiple protection functions to ensure safe operation, and comes in a compact and low-profile surface mount package for ease of integration into various applications.
