The PIC32CK SG/GC microcontroller family from Microchip is built around a 120 MHz Arm Cortex‑M33 core, offering up to 2 MB dual‑panel flash and 512 KB SRAM, with integrated hardware acceleration for both floating-point (FPU) and digital signal (DPU) operations. These devices also include analog capabilities—a 32‑channel peripheral touch controller and a 12‑bit ADC with up to 3 Msps sampling rate—to support responsive and efficient sensor interfacing in embedded systems.
On the connectivity side, the PIC32CK supports a comprehensive interface suite, including 10/100 Ethernet (with IEEE‑1588 support), High‑Speed USB, Full‑Speed USB, CAN FD, and multiple serial ports (UART, I²C, SPI, SQI), along with SERCOM modules for flexible peripheral mapping. This makes it well-suited for real-time networking and communication tasks in industrial IoT, automotive subsystems, and smart-edge applications.
Security is a core design focus, with the SG variants incorporating both Arm TrustZone hardware partitioning and a dedicated Hardware Security Module (HSM). The HSM includes a separate CPU, secure DMA, memory domain, and accelerators for cryptographic tasks (RSA, ECC, AES, hashing, and random number generation). This architecture supports secure boot, firmware updates, key management, and trusted execution—enabling compliance with standards like ISO‑26262 functional safety and ISO/SAE‑21434 cybersecurity.
For development and integration, the PIC32CK family is supported by MPLAB Harmony v3 and the Trust Platform Design Suite, which streamline secure provisioning and system development. Evaluation boards such as the PIC32CK SG/GC Curiosity Ultra Kit offer Ethernet, USB, graphical interface support, Arduino compatibility, and onboard debugging tools, accelerating prototyping for secure connectivity applications.
