The BIOFUSE BISS (Bio Innovation Splice Sealing) tubes and BICAP (Bio Innovation Cap) heat shrink caps are constructed from irradiated, bio-based modified polyolefin materials, offering a sustainable alternative to conventional shrink products without compromising performance. Both series feature a hot-melt adhesive liner that flows on application—sealing around wires and splices to block moisture and fluids distinctly, and retaining electrical insulation integrity even under exposure to harsh automotive environments. The materials are halogenated and highly flame-retardant, meeting rigorous flame safety standards.
In terms of form and function, the BIOFUSE range delivers a 4:1 shrink ratio, enabling coverage across multiple wire or splice sizes with fewer product variants. They provide mechanical strain relief against impact and abrasion, and resist corrosion caused by fluids common in automotive and transportation systems. The thermal profile supports a wide operating range—down to –40 °C, up to +125 °C, with full shrink recovery at ~135 °C.
From an application standpoint, the BISS tubing is engineered for inline splice sealing, while the BICAP caps are designed to protect end-of-wire or stub splice configurations. Both maintain equivalent performance to TE’s established automotive products, ensuring electrical insulation and environmental protection comparable to solutions like ES2000 and RBK-ILS.
