  • A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane is recommended. Keep the input and output capacitors close to the IC, and use short, wide traces for the high-current paths.
  • Use a soft-start circuit to limit the inrush current during startup, and ensure the input voltage rises slowly. During shutdown, use a controlled shutdown sequence to prevent voltage spikes.
  • A low-ESR ceramic capacitor with a value of 10uF to 22uF is recommended. The capacitor should be rated for the maximum input voltage and have a low equivalent series resistance (ESR) to minimize losses.
