  • A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane is recommended. Keep the input and output capacitors close to the IC, and use a Kelvin connection for the sense resistors.
  • The sense resistor value depends on the maximum current and voltage of your application. A general guideline is to choose a sense resistor that results in a voltage drop of 50-100 mV at the maximum current. TI provides a sense resistor calculator tool to help with the selection.
  • The EN (enable) pin is used to turn the device on or off. Connect EN to VIN to enable the device, or connect it to GND to disable it. You can also use an external signal to control the EN pin for dynamic enable/disable functionality.
  • The device has a built-in thermal shutdown feature that turns off the device when the junction temperature exceeds 150°C. Ensure good thermal design and heat dissipation to prevent overheating. If thermal shutdown occurs, the device will automatically restart when the temperature drops below 130°C.
  • Choose input capacitors with low ESR and high ripple current rating to handle the input voltage ripple. Output capacitors should have low ESR and be rated for the output voltage and current. Ensure the capacitors are placed close to the IC and connected with short, wide traces.
