  • A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate layer for the battery voltage is recommended. Keep the high-current paths short and wide, and use thermal vias to dissipate heat.
  • Choose a sense resistor value that provides a voltage drop of 50-100 mV at the maximum expected charge current. Ensure the resistor is rated for the maximum power dissipation.
  • The EN (enable) pin is used to turn the charger on or off. Tie EN to VCC to enable the charger, or to GND to disable it. Use a pull-up resistor to prevent unwanted enabling.
  • Use an external timer circuit or a microcontroller to monitor the charge cycle and timeout. The BQ2060A-E619DBQ does not have a built-in timer function.
  • Ensure good airflow, use a heat sink if necessary, and keep the device away from heat sources. Monitor the junction temperature (TJ) and reduce the charge current if TJ exceeds 125°C.
