  • A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane is recommended. Keep the input and output capacitors close to the IC, and use short, wide traces for the power paths. Refer to the TI application note 'PCB Layout Guidelines for the BQ25300RTER' for more details.
  • Choose X5R or X7R ceramic capacitors with a voltage rating of at least 1.5 times the maximum input voltage. For the input capacitor, a value of 10uF to 22uF is recommended. For the output capacitor, a value of 4.7uF to 10uF is recommended. Ensure the capacitors are placed close to the IC and have a low ESL and ESR.
  • The BQ25300RTER is rated for operation from -40°C to 85°C. However, the device can be operated up to 105°C with derating. Refer to the datasheet for more information on thermal derating.
  • Connect a voltage divider network to the OVP pin (pin 5) to set the OVP threshold. The OVP threshold is 1.2V, but can be adjusted using an external resistor divider. Ensure the OVP pin is connected to a voltage source that is higher than the maximum input voltage.
  • The EN pin is an active-high enable input that allows the device to be turned on or off. When the EN pin is high, the device is enabled and operates normally. When the EN pin is low, the device is disabled and enters a low-power shutdown mode.
