FDMA8878 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and thermal vias is recommended. Keep the thermal pad connected to the ground plane to improve heat dissipation.
  • Use a 2nd-order LC filter with a cutoff frequency of 1.5-2 times the switching frequency. Ensure the filter components are placed close to the IC to minimize parasitic inductance.
  • The maximum allowed voltage on the EN pin is 6V. Exceeding this voltage may damage the internal circuitry.
  • Ensure the input voltage is stable and within the recommended range before enabling the device. A soft-start circuit can be used to slowly ramp up the input voltage to prevent inrush currents.
  • Use a low-ESR ceramic capacitor with a value of 10-22uF. The capacitor should be placed close to the VIN pin to minimize parasitic inductance.
