LMX2594RHAR Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane is recommended. Keep the analog and digital grounds separate and connect them at a single point. Use a low-ESR capacitor for the VCC pin and a 0.1uF capacitor for the AVCC pin. Keep the loop area of the oscillator circuit as small as possible.
  • Use the TI's Clock Design Tool or the LMX2594RHAR Evaluation Module to generate the desired frequency output. The tool provides a graphical user interface to configure the device and generates the required register settings. You can also use the datasheet's equations to calculate the required register settings manually.
  • The maximum frequency deviation of the internal VCO is ±100 ppm over the operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. This deviation can be calibrated out using the device's calibration feature.
  • Monitor the LOCKDET pin to ensure the PLL is locked. The LOCKDET pin goes high when the PLL is locked and stable. You can also use the device's status registers to monitor the PLL's lock status.
  • Power up the device in the following sequence: VCC, AVCC, and then the input clock. Ensure that the input clock is stable before enabling the PLL.
