The PS8502L3-E3-AX has an internal overcurrent protection (OCP) feature, but it's not enabled by default. To implement OCP, you need to connect an external resistor (Rocp) between the OCP pin and GND, and set the OCP threshold voltage (Vocp) according to the datasheet. Additionally, you can use an external circuit to detect overcurrent conditions and shut down the device if necessary.
The recommended input capacitor value is 10uF to 22uF, with an X7R or X5R dielectric type. The capacitor should be placed as close as possible to the VIN pin and have a low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) to ensure stable operation and minimize voltage ripple.
To ensure proper power-up and initialization, follow the power-up sequence outlined in the datasheet. Apply a valid input voltage (VIN) before enabling the device (EN pin). The EN pin should be pulled high after VIN has reached a stable level. Additionally, ensure that the input voltage is within the recommended operating range and that the device is properly decoupled.
The maximum allowed voltage on the EN pin is 6V. To protect the EN pin from overvoltage, use a voltage clamp circuit, such as a Zener diode or a transient voltage suppressor (TVS), to limit the voltage to 6V or less. You can also use a resistive divider network to reduce the voltage applied to the EN pin.
