A thermal pad is recommended under the IC to improve heat dissipation. A 2-layer or 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane is also recommended to reduce thermal resistance.
Ensure that the input voltage is within the recommended range, and that the output capacitor is of sufficient value (at least 10uF) and ESR (less than 1 ohm) to maintain stability.
The maximum allowable ripple voltage on the input is 1Vp-p. Exceeding this may affect the regulator's stability and output voltage accuracy.
While ceramic capacitors can be used, they may not be suitable due to their high ESR. A low-ESR electrolytic or tantalum capacitor is recommended for optimal performance.
A TVS diode or a transient voltage suppressor can be used to protect the regulator from input voltage surges. A fuse or a PTC thermistor can also be used to protect against overcurrent conditions.
