TLC354ID Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • Texas Instruments recommends a star-ground configuration, with the analog and digital grounds separated and connected at a single point. Additionally, keep the analog and digital signal traces separate and avoid running them parallel to each other. Use a solid ground plane and decouple the power supply lines with capacitors.
  • Use a high-quality clock source with a low jitter specification. Ensure the clock signal is properly terminated and routed to minimize reflections and noise. Use a series resistor to terminate the clock signal and add a capacitor to filter out high-frequency noise.
  • Use an anti-aliasing filter with a cutoff frequency below the Nyquist frequency (half the sampling rate) to prevent aliasing. A 3rd-order or 4th-order Butterworth filter is recommended. Ensure the filter's output impedance is matched to the TLC354ID's input impedance.
  • Use a high-quality external reference voltage source, such as a voltage reference IC, and connect it to the TLC354ID's REF pin. Ensure the reference voltage is within the specified range (2.5V ± 10%) and decouple the REF pin with a capacitor to filter out noise.
  • Power up the TLC354ID's digital supply (VDD) first, followed by the analog supply (AVDD). Ensure the digital supply is stable before applying the analog supply. Avoid applying the analog supply before the digital supply, as this can cause latch-up.
