TMCS1100A1QDR Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane is recommended. Keep the analog and digital grounds separate and connect them at a single point. Use a decoupling capacitor (e.g., 10uF) close to the device.
  • Use a low-impedance current sense resistor (e.g., 1mΩ) and place it close to the device. Ensure the sense resistor is in the same thermal zone as the device. Use a Kelvin connection to the sense resistor to minimize errors.
  • Use a 2nd-order low-pass filter (e.g., RC filter) with a cutoff frequency around 100kHz to filter out high-frequency noise. The filter should be placed close to the device's input pins.
  • The internal voltage regulator is enabled by default. If an external voltage regulator is used, ensure it can supply at least 10mA to the device. Bypass the internal regulator by connecting the VREG_EN pin to GND.
  • Use a thermal pad or a heat sink with a thermal interface material (e.g., thermal tape) to dissipate heat. Ensure good airflow around the device. Avoid using thermal vias under the device.
