VRE3025JS Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • Apex Microtechnology recommends a 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane, and thermal vias under the device to dissipate heat. A thermal pad on the bottom of the device should be connected to a heat sink or a thermal interface material.
  • To ensure stability, Apex recommends using a minimum output capacitance of 10uF, and a maximum ESR of 1 ohm. Additionally, a 10nF capacitor in parallel with a 10uF capacitor can be used to filter out high-frequency noise.
  • The maximum allowed input voltage ripple is 10% of the nominal input voltage. Exceeding this limit may cause output voltage deviations, increased noise, and reduced efficiency.
  • Apex recommends using an external current sense resistor and a fuse or a current limiting circuit to protect the device from overcurrent and short-circuit conditions.
  • Apex recommends a soft-start sequence with a 10ms to 100ms ramp-up time to prevent inrush currents and ensure stable operation.
