  • A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate analog ground plane is recommended. Keep the analog and digital grounds separate and connect them at a single point. Use a low-ESR capacitor for the VCC pin and a 0.1uF capacitor for the AVCC pin.
  • Use a high-accuracy voltage reference, such as the LTC6655-5, and ensure that the input voltage is within the specified range. Also, use a low-noise, low-impedance voltage source and minimize noise on the input lines.
  • The maximum cable length for the I2C interface is approximately 10 meters (33 feet) with a maximum capacitance of 400pF. However, this can be extended using I2C bus extenders or repeaters.
  • Connect a thermistor or a thermocouple to the TMON pin and use the internal ADC to measure the temperature. The temperature data can be read through the I2C interface. Ensure proper thermal coupling between the thermistor/thermocouple and the component being monitored.
  • Power up the VCC pin first, followed by the AVCC pin. Ensure that the VCC pin is powered up before the AVCC pin to prevent latch-up. The power-up sequence is critical to ensure proper operation of the device.
